PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test)
The PSAT serves as a practice test for the SAT and used for the National Merit Qualifying Test (NMSQT). The test will be administered in the fall at Salem Hills High School. Students must pay the finance department $20. Stop by the counseling center for more information on dates. It is recommended to take your sophomore year for practice, and then again as a junior for the NMSQT. For more information visit here.
ACT (American College Testing)
Colleges and Universities require an entrance exam as part of their administration process. In Utah, the ACT is the common exam used among all institutions. They will also take the SAT. The test covers four skill areas: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science Reasoning. Scores are used for admissions, scholarship eligibility and course replacement. It is recommended that you take the ACT mid to end of junior year, and re-take the test early on in your senior year.

SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test)
The SAT is the nation’s most widely used admission test among colleges and universities. Today, the SAT is the benchmark standardized assessment of the critical reading, mathematical reasoning, and writing skills students have developed over time and that they need to be successful in college. The SAT is typically taken by high school juniors and seniors. For more information visit here
AP (Advanced Placement)
AP courses are college level courses that challenge students academically and prepare them better for college classes. At the end of the year, students can take AP exams to receive college credit. The exams cost $89 and are administered during the first two weeks of May. For more information visit here
Salem Hills High School offers the following AP classes: AP Language & Composition, AP Literature & Composition, AP Physics, AP Environmental Science, AP US History, AP Psychology, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Studio Art, and AP Music Theory
